Riding Attire

If you do not have the full riding attire please see below for suitable clothing and footwear.
Riding hats are included in the price of your lesson (activity). Riding hats and equipment are also available to purchase.
If you riding in your own hat please insure they conform to the current safety standards (PAS 015, BSEN 1384, BSEN 1997, ASTM F1163) and The British Kitemark

Acceptable Attire: Leggings, tracksuit bottoms, full length comfortable trousers (avoid jeans), boots / shoes with small 1/2 inch heel and smooth sole. All weather clothing may be required i.e. raincoat

Body protectors are advisable when jumping (but are not compulsary)

Unacceptable Attire: vest tops (shoulders must be covered), shorts, 3/4 length trousers (legs must be covered), dresses and skirts.
Unacceptable Footwear: flip-flops, sandles, open toe shoes, heels higher than 1 inch or no heel at all i.e. pumps, avoid wellies and trainers (unless they have a smooth heel and a smooth sole)
We advise you wear minimal jewellery (any jewellery worn will be done so at your own risk).

Please ensure all coats and jackets are fastened correctly so they do not flap about.

 

Weather

Riding lessons continue in all weather conditions (at our discretion)
Suitable clothing must be brought and worn as necessary.

 

Photography / Recordings (camcorders)

Due to recent legislations reguarding the new child protection act. NO photographs / videos are to be taken, if any individual is in the intended shot unless a writen agreement is signed by parent / guardian prior to the use of any video / camera equipment on these premises. However Glen Jakes Riding School cannot be held responsible for any photographs taken by others without our knowledge.

 

Safety

Although safety measures are put into force at Glen Jakes Riding School prior to the beginning of any activities, horse-riding is rated as a high-risk sport, and due to this fact we will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained whilst riding at this establishment

 

Comments

In order for us to continue to provide our clients with an excellent and consistant service we welcome feedback with any comments or concerns. All correspondence is treated confidentially and is greatly appreciated. We have found this a valuabel way for clients to be able to liase with staff on a regular basis, hence providing a happy and balanced atmosphere, and above all a friendly and welcoming place to visit / work. Our aim is to make horse-riding at Glen Jakes Riding School a very memorable experience to be enjoyed by all.

 

Payment

We accept cheque and cash only. We do not have the facilities to process card payments.

 

Additional Information

Glen Jakes Riding School reserves the right to change any instructor or horse / pony where necessary. Please note that ponies and instructors may be requested but not booked, as it is not possible to guarantee thier availability, even though we do our upmost to accommodate your individual needs by providing continuity and consistance

Please Note, lesson time includes mounting and dismounting

We require a cancellation policy not only to keep our classes small, but also due to an increasing number of people cancelling group / private / semi-private lessons on the day or simply not turning up to a lesson or activity that has been booked. As a business we find this unsustainable.

 

Cancellation Policy

48 Hours Notice Must Be Given

If less than 48 hours notice has been given, a £5.00 fee will be charged. If less than 24 hours or no notice is given (Including illness) the full fee will be charged. Alternatively we will try to re-arrange your lesson / activity within 5 days from your original cancelled lesson, this can be done only once . However, we cannot guarantee this will always be available, therefore lessons / activities will still be payable, even if we are unable to accommodate. This is due to limited places being available, we restrict our number to keep our classes small therefore we are able to provide better quality lessons. To enable us to continue providing this service please ensure you cancel any pre-booked lessons / activities (whenever possible) at your earliest convenience so we can offer the available slot to fellow riders. All Deposits and Pre-Paid Lesson Fees Are Non-Refundable.
